One of the most amazing things about travels through the Otherworlds is the lack of a defined and finite physical body. This makes some amazing and powerfully worldview shaking experiences possible if you give up the idea that you have to be human. I'd like you to consider trying some journeys as non-human things. For me, rain drops have been fascinating and beautiful.

Start my reducing your vision of yourself to a small drop of water in a cloud. Feel the pull of the earth beneath you as you grow heavier and heavier. When the moment is right, leave the cloud and rush through the sky to the world below. Take note of the direction and speed you feel. Is this rain a gentle shower or a fierce storm? Is the wind blowing you in any particular direction, or is it still? Is the air dry and grateful for the presence of rain, or is it saturated, humid, and heavy? Is there soot or other pollutions in the air that cling to you? As you approach the ground, where will you fall? Will you land on arid desert, a grassy meadow, a forest, or even the ocean? Will you join other drops of water to puddle, pool, flood, or flow?

Water, has no shape of its own. Where ever you find yourself, yours shape will be determined by it. If you are pulled down my gravity, go with it. You might be drawn up through osmosis or capillary action to the roots of a plant. You might sink deep into the earth and become part of a water table. Have you helped to shape the stones or erode the land? Eventually, you, a drop of water, will nourish something. Is it a plant, an animal, a person? When they exhale, you find yourself vapor, freer and lighter than a drop of water. Rejoin the sky and marvel in the way water flows from place to place, how it cycles through the world shaping and nourishing and changing everything it touches.

Today is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. This year, we are faced with a darkness in hearts as well as the natural dance of the Earth between shadows and light. It's important to remember to turn on those twinkling lights, to light the candles, to burn the Yule Logs, sing songs, feast, dance, and give of yourself. These acts are heavy with symbolism, heavy with hope, and we all need them. They remind us that darkness, has no power, but that we ascribe to it.

This year, please remember to hold your loved ones, to be kind to strangers, to embrace love and light in every place you find it. Don't let evil acts dim your light. Fight back and spread warmth, because that is the most powerful and most effective way to defy the Darkness. However you do it, celebrate life and light, and the don't let despair smother you.

I wish each and every one of you love, strength, light and hope this Winter Solstice. I hope that healing finds us all, but especially those families who have lost loved ones this week to terrible tragedies. Tomorrow, when the sun rises, stronger and and for longer than today, we need to remember that we can do the same. Our light will grow stronger if we let it. Blessings to all!
Walking trough an endless world of ash, all seems lost. Nothing has shape or color. It is all a powdery, deep gray ash. Beneath the your feet is several inches of ash that is neither cot nor cold. It simply is. There is no sound, no life and no scents here. It is a place of emptiness. There is no direction in this place- up, down, East, West, North, South all look and feel exactly the same.

Then a shimmer appears above and before that wanderer, and a moment later, it begins to rain light. As the droplets fall on the you, the wanderer, your skin absorbs the light. Spot by tiny spot, you are becoming something beautiful and full of light. You are now, your own beacon. The light you cast gives shape and form to the ash world, and you see that it is a place in which should not stay.

Once you accept the light that is now yours and the futility of staying in the dusty, dark, broken ash world, you will see a veil. Walk to it, and walk through it. Your time in the shadows in done.

It's been quite a long while since I've updated here. My apologies for leaving you waiting. - Cauldron Keeper

I was meditating last week in the new silence of my house, and had an interesting experience that I'm sharing here. For several reasons, I find it fascinating: first, the images I received were unusually stylized, rather than the more typical realism; second, the image was from outside my belief system, and the message was strangely layered.

Before me, wearing a grotesque crown of thorns, was a Christ figure. He appeared, not as I typically imagine him, a thin man of obvious Jewish heritage, but in the white washed Euro-American way in which he is depicted in many art pieces. His skin was waxy pale, bruised and glowing in a strange, mottled fashion. His hair was light brown, styled in neat waves, and his eyes were blue. Beads of blood dribbled down his face and stained the thorn crown. His body was cut, bruised and obviously tortured, but not emaciated. He also never looked at me, and his eyes stayed fixed heavenward. Other than this figure, there was nothing else; no cross, no background, no other people, just darkness.

He spoke to me, and delivered a startling, yet easily understood message: "They glorify and love my suffering, not as a gift to them, but as tool by which they cover the suffering they cause." Startled, I woke up, full of questions and very uncomfortable.

I am uncertain about whether that message begins within me alone, or if it is the Universe telling me something I need to know. Regardless, it highlights a particular lesson about suffering. Some people glorify suffering as a spiritual tool. They believe it to be the crucible in which we can become more than what we are. While it is true that some people find the best of themselves when faced with terrible situations, there are many others who find that suffering perverts and twists people into monsters who cause suffering. We should be careful about causing suffering, especially if we use that cruelty as a way to discipline others to behave the way we wish them to, for our own purposes.

Moments of suffering can be moments in which we find strength, beauty and wisdom we had not previously acknowledged, but we should not knowingly cause suffering to change others. When we acknowledge the suffering that we have experienced, we must confront whether we accept that suffering as something to glorify or as a misfortune that we do not wish on others.Suffering cannot be totally avoided in life, because life must be embraced, pain and all, but suffering should never be encouraged or glorified as a way to create strong, beautiful souls.

I haven't spent much time linking to other people's work here, but a few months ago, I came across a powerful tool for dealing with fear on a website that I occasionally visit. Inelia Benz's Ascension 101 has a number of tools available for you to use to deal with fear, money and dealing with a global climate that is frequently hostile. I invite you to listen to look around her site and try out some of the tools she offers (some of them are mp3s, which I find convenient).

As I've started writing about shadow work here, fear will a common theme. Dealing with our fears in a healthy fashion makes it possible for us to accept pieces of ourselves and to turn fear into something positive. Ignoring a fear, trying to bury it only makes it stronger. When the things that we really fear are brought to light, examined, and understood, they lose their power over us.

I encourage you to read through and consider using the Fear Processing Tool on Ascension 101. You can find it here.

Good luck and blessings to you!
Mandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11389700895287842823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4092731564356901463.post-81930665781577046612012-04-23T15:07:00.001-07:002012-04-23T15:07:42.477-07:00Shadow work- an introduction

There comes a point in every soul's spiritual development when we must face the less pleasant parts of our soul. Shadow work is a good description of this process. Shadows are merely places where light i not seen due to being blocked. Once we understand this, we can rearrange or remove the block so that we can see the light again.

Each of us has a very different experience with the dark places inside. Some people ignore them, others embrace them, and most of us fall somewhere between. Even once we acknowledge these places, we all react differently. There is nothing wrong with that, it's simply part of being individuals.

Examining our shadows takes several things: courage, a willingness to understand, compassion towards ourselves, and honesty. These are not always the easiest things to summon up, so i would recommend holding off on shadow work when you are in crisis, ill or in need of serious spiritual and/or psychological help. When you undertake this part of your Otherworld journeys, I recommend you write down your experiences, reactions and any illuminations your receive. They have a way of making repeat performances when we least expect.

Shadow work is not comfortable. It's not meant to be; it is about honoring all that is within us, accepting past actions and experiences and incorporating the lessons learned from darker experiences into ourselves to be whole. By accepting those parts of ourselves that cause shame, despair and pain, we can let go of their influence and heal.
Mandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11389700895287842823noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4092731564356901463.post-33729975986532729062012-03-19T20:44:00.001-07:002012-03-19T20:44:43.896-07:00Happy Spring Equinox!

High in the mountians is a place of disaster and recovery. It is the burnt forest. Not long ago, a fire raged through a once vibrant pine forest. The animals fled and the trees burned. The blackened skeletons of the trees stand sadly on scorched earth.

At first glance, the only colors of this landscape are black and brown, but look again, carefully, and you will find the cycle of life is beginning again. Tiny trees have sprouted among the dead elders. They are pushing through the soil that is now enriched with all the
nutrients from the remains of their fore bearers.

Reach down and scoop a handful of this black earth. It stains your hands with carbon, but it is heavy, full of organic material. Here is a place where magnificent beginnings are possible, all it will take is time. All things are possible, given enough time and fertile ground.

In meditation and the inner landscapes, you are not bound by the laws of physics or even to a body. The only impossibilities are the ones you impose.

When you are ready, become part of the winds and go where you are taken. This can be done as a bird, a leaf, or even a breeze. Flying on the wind is a wonderful carefree feeling that requires no thought, only sensation, if you'd like. It is also a way to learn more about the Otherworld from a different perspective.

Just remember that you can stop the experience if it get's too intense and that you are always perfectly safe. Going where you are taken can improve your confidence and acquaint you with many parts of the Otherworld that we haven't explored together.
There is a great and swift river that flows across a green valley. It gathers clear, cold water from the snow melt of the high mountains to the north and carries it southwards, rambling through valleys, down hills and across plains into the mysterious land of the canyons.

Follow the river as enters the hills leading to the canyons. The rocks here are banded in soft, beautiful colors: greys, blues, yellows, rust, cream, tan, even a soft violet. As you enter the deep, narrow canyon, look up. Around you is time laid out for your enjoyment and study. Each layer represents a time period, each change of color and texture is the end one thing and the beginning of something else. Some of these changes have been gradual, you cannot tell for certain where one layer ends and the next begins, though you see a slow progression to a new stone. Other changes are sudden, sharp lines and violent juxtaposition.

Beside you the river patient cuts through the rocks, exposing new truths about the past. The sun does not reach you where you stand, but ahead, it lights the scene like a spotlight. Vegetation is sparse and the animals that inhabit this landscape are quiet, secretive, subtle.

Step into the harsh, bright light shining down from above and let your sight adjust. Do you see anything differently? Are there petroglyphs or fossils? Mine shafts, ruins? Can you read your past in the layers before you or do you identify with the river, slowly making it's way to its destination and shaping the world as it passes?
Mandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11389700895287842823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4092731564356901463.post-65357700584758962982011-10-13T16:04:00.000-07:002011-10-13T16:05:37.440-07:00The void

I've been trying to write posts for you, but nothing was happening. Silly me, I had missed the message, several times. I was being shown the Void. It is a emptiness. The "abyss of the unformed", as Patricia Kenneally Morrison poetically called it. In fact, it's not actually a place, more an idea. It has many names; for me Void, Abyss or Annwn work. You may find other names or descriptors that suit your worldview better. The name has no meaning other than what you give it, much like these journeys.

My recent journeys to the Otherworlds have been in the Abyss. For me it is devoid of light, sound, taste, sensation and scent. I am there and occasionally, guides have sought me out. Some of them family members who I knew in this life, but who have passed into their next existence, others teachers who wish to impart of a bit of wisdom. Since there is nothing there, there is literally nothing to fear. It is a place of creation and destruction, the source of change. It defines the idea of existence. Annwn, the abyss, is easy to overlook, but it can be an ideal place to face fears or hear truths that maybe uncomfortable. it is a place to practice your own creative powers, or simply to be alone.

If, during your Otherworldly travel, you find yourself lost in a space that has no markers or form, you are probably in the Void. Don't panic. If you are afraid, you can leave and go back to someplace that makes you feel safe, or you can try to understand what the Abyss means to you. If you stay, try creating images or objects. Ask for guidance or simply enjoy the quiet.
Blessings!
It is sometimes difficult to meditate in a world filled with technology and noise. I live in an apartment and a neighbor slamming a door can startle me out of a light trance very easily. One of the things I have found very helpful is a mp3 player and some inexpensive binaural and shamanic recordings. The ear buds muffle some outside noise and the music covers the rest. It leaves me more relaxed and more able to follow my mind where it goes. It's also a good tool for timing your meditation sessions. Good luck and happy travels!

There are many things you have now learned in the Otherworld. Your journey has been unique and filled with meaning. Congratulations!

The Otherworld(s) are also a place where you can celebrate, perform rituals or create. Take some time from your journey to rejoice with your guides over how far you've come. Dance, sing, soar in happiness. Give thanks or offer a plea for help. Cast spells or create great art. The possibilities are only as limited as your imagination.

Magic in the Otherworld does transfer over into this one. Embrace your own power and create the life you want.

May this Equinox bring your balance and blessings!

As you journey in the Otherworld, you will meet other beings. Some of them will be projections of yourself, others will be guides, and some will be other travelers. Every being, great or small, has a lesson to impart in the Otherworld. It is up to you to decides if and when and how to engage some of these teachers. The ones I met, will not necessarily be the ones you do. If at any point a being makes you feel unsafe or scared, feel free to break off that contact and leave. Things in the Otherworld can only hurt you if you let them.

With this in mind, I will share an experience I had. In my travels, I often perform mundane tasks such as cleaning my home or cooking food. Once, while sitting beside a campfire, I was approached by another. Hooded and hidden, I never the less, invited the being to sit. he or she, never spoke, only watched the stars and enjoyed the warmth of the fire. Did I learn something? Probably. It was a strange experience. Silence, for many of us is uncomfortable. Sharing a meal or fire with a stranger is not a common experience for us. Our own personal bubbles protect us the waking world from many interactions with strangers, we all bump along, against each other's bubbles with out actually interacting. I am still processing the experience.

May journeys be blessed with experiences and lessons that strengthen and enlighten you.

This journey expands your geographic knowledge of the Otherworld. Travel south and east, away from the ocean, over the mountains that cradle the lowlands between them and the sea. These are the desert lands, a place where you can learn to spot hope and life in seeming desolation. Notice the light here is bright, harsh and strong; it heats the rocks and backs the earth.

Unlike many of the other places you have been led in these journeys, this is a place of austerity and unique adaptation. The plants, animals and beings that inhabit the desert are important teachers; their power is in their ability to adapt, to persevere, to thrive in a harsh, demanding world. Here, more than any other place you have been to, requires balance.

Look around at the faded desert shrubbery. It looks nearly dead, doesn't it? The leaves look dry and brittle, but touch them. They are surprisingly soft and supple. The wood of these bushes is cracked and splintery, but they harbor a secret: these fibers have the amazing ability to hold what water comes their way and save it for when it's really needed. Keep looking. Do you see how many different animals are here? From tiny mice, to families of quail, snakes, hares, coyotes, and many others make their home in this land.

The inhabitants here respect one another. They understand that their lives, and deaths, are part of the great cycle of being. A snake may eat the mouse, and in turn become food to an eagle, who dies and feeds the land itself. If one species becomes overpopulated, they all feel the effects of that imbalance, sooner or later. It doesn't matter whether the species is a grass or predator. They are equally important. They have all developed amazing adaptations to survive the heat of the day, the cold of the night, and the lack of regular rainfall. They blend with their environment so carefully, as to be invisible.

Spend some time observing the careful, subtle balance and beauty of this place. Do you see how dependent each species is on the others? Do you identify with a particular animal or plant? Do you see yourself reflected int his environment? Watch as the day changes to night. Do you see a new world here? Enjoy the exploration of this desert. It's secrets and lessons are many, and it will take time to learn them. You may also find traces of other travelers, of peoples who have lived there. They may be hidden or careful preserved. Take your time, embrace your bravery and explore.

Among the green hills, there is a barren valley. Once this place was thriving and beautiful, fruitful and fertile. Farms and small villages dotted it, and it's reputation for fertile soil spread. War, for generations, marched back and froth across this valley. Livestock were killed or escaped. Crops alternately burned or rotted in the feild. Homes blazed. Now this place is an unmarked graveyard for those who coveted it. Broken weapons and armor, bleached bones and broken objects mark where soldiers fell.

In this place, you can respectfully look around trying to recognize messages about your destructve or covetous tendencies. Does a broken cottage remind you of something? Or maybe it's the tarnished and damaged heraldry on a shield. Are you a survivor of wanton and nonsensical warring?

This barren, war torn valley is a place to mourn, to listen to the messages of the past. Cry your tears, feed the land, and one day, it will return to it's former glory or be overtaken by nature. The sorrow and anger of the place will diminish and it will hold other lessons for us to learn.
Mandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11389700895287842823noreply@blogger.com0
